These terms apply to mobile roadside service, in-shop service, towing and recovery requested through our service request form or by phone. By checking the acceptance box on the service request form you agree to them for that request. Questions before you agree? Call dispatch at (855) 450-1212.
1. Authority to approve service and payment
By submitting a service request you confirm that you are the owner or operator of the vehicle, or are authorized by its owner, carrier or fleet to request the service and approve payment for it.
2. Service categories and rates
These are our general published rates. Rates follow the local date and time at the service location. Holidays use weekend rates. Parts, materials, mileage and applicable taxes are additional unless an approved estimate includes them.
| Service | When | Service call | Labor | Minimum (call + 2 hours labor) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard mobile mechanical & tire service | Mon–Fri 9 AM–5 PM | $185 | $185/hr | $555 |
| Mon–Fri 5 PM–9 AM | $195 | $225/hr | $645 | |
| Weekends and holidays | $350 | $225/hr | $800 | |
| Thermo King & Carrier reefer service | Mon–Fri 9 AM–5 PM | $265 | $295/hr | $855 |
| Mon–Fri 5 PM–9 AM | $325 | $355/hr | $1,035 | |
| Weekends and holidays | $350 | $355/hr | $1,060 | |
| Axle, spindle & wheel-end repairs | Any time | $350 (specialized) | $250/hr | $850 |
| In-shop mechanical repairs | Shop hours | None | $185/hr | No mobile minimum |
- Tires: tire replacement may be sold as a complete flat-rate package. An approved flat-rate quote takes precedence over the hourly schedule, and we do not charge a second labor minimum when labor is already included.
- Reefer: refrigerant-related services, parts and materials are additional unless included in an approved estimate. Repairs that need specialized equipment, refrigerant recovery or a dealer facility may need a separate approved estimate. Not every reefer repair can be completed at the roadside.
- Axle, spindle & wheel-end: bearings, hubs, seals, spindle assemblies, brake components, axle parts and materials are additional. Major axle replacement, specialized welding, heavy lifting or extensive repairs may need a separate approved estimate. Standard rates apply unless a job-specific quote says otherwise.
- In-shop: no automatic mobile service call and no automatic two-hour mobile minimum. Diagnosis, parts, materials and taxes are as quoted. Major engine, transmission and other extensive work may receive a separate written estimate.
3. Minimum labor and towing charges
Each mobile service call includes a 2-hour labor minimum, which applies even when the physical repair takes only a few minutes. Additional time is billed at the applicable hourly rate. Towing and rotator recovery have a 2-hour minimum (section 14). Any other billing increment or minimum is disclosed before you authorize the work. We do not add hours or charges that were not worked or authorized.
4. Shop-to-shop labor billing (mobile mechanical service)
Labor begins when the technician leaves the shop or assigned dispatch location and continues during travel, inspection, diagnosis and repair. Authorized parts-sourcing trips may count as billable labor. Labor ends on return to the shop or at the end of the agreed billable service period. Travel counts toward the minimum labor requirement. The same travel time is never billed to more than one customer. An agreed flat-rate package takes precedence when it expressly includes mobilization, labor, mileage or other charges.
5. Mileage and round-trip travel
Mileage is billed round trip unless specifically quoted otherwise: $2.00 per billable mile in the United States and $2.00 per billable kilometer in Canada. There are no free miles and no automatic distance surcharge. Additional long-distance travel, fuel surcharges or special transportation expenses are charged only after they are disclosed to you and you authorize them. Special towing mileage and recovery transportation may be set in an individual written estimate.
6. Parts sourcing and additional authorized travel
If parts must be picked up during the job, the technician's time and mileage for an authorized parts trip may be billed at the rates above. We tell you before making an unplanned parts trip. Parts are billed at our posted or quoted price.
7. Diagnosis and incomplete repairs
Diagnostic time is billed as labor. If a repair cannot be completed at the roadside, for example because a part is unavailable or the location is unsafe, you pay for the service call, labor and mileage actually provided. We explain the options, such as towing or a return visit, before any further work.
8. Additional damage and customer approval
If the technician finds additional damage or needed work outside the authorized scope, we describe it to you and obtain your approval before doing that work or adding parts or substitute products.
9. Customer-supplied parts
We may install parts you supply when they are suitable for the repair. Labor is billed at the applicable rate. We do not warrant customer-supplied parts. If such a part is wrong, defective or fails, additional labor to diagnose, remove or replace it is billable.
10. Service deposits
A service deposit or advance payment may be required before dispatch; we tell you the amount in advance. Deposits are credited toward the authorized charges on your invoice. Any unused balance is handled according to the applicable agreement and law. There is no automatic penalty and no blanket nonrefundable deposit.
11. Credit card authorization and payment
When a credit card is accepted for the job, you authorize the charge on the service request form, and the card is charged after the service for the amount on the final invoice. A 5% card processing fee is added to card payments, as shown on the service request form.
12. Payment arrangements: EFS, Comchek, T-Check and Fleet One
Available payment arrangements depend on the service and your authorization. MTS may require payment by EFS, Comchek or T-Check, by Fleet One when approved, or by credit card authorization when a card is accepted for the job. Advance payment or a service deposit may be required before dispatch. Fleet customers may qualify for separately approved arrangements; fleets can apply at mtstruckservice.com/fleet-register. Fleet credit is not approved automatically.
13. Cancellation after dispatch
You may cancel at any time. If you cancel after a technician or tow truck has been dispatched, you pay the service call and the properly authorized labor, mileage and expenses already incurred up to the cancellation. There is no other cancellation fee.
14. Heavy towing, rotator recovery and specialty services
| Service | Rate | Minimum |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy towing: truck only | $650/hr | 2 hours ($1,300) |
| Heavy towing: trailer only | $650/hr | 2 hours ($1,300) |
| Heavy towing: truck and trailer together | $900/hr | 2 hours ($1,800) |
| Heavy-duty rotator recovery | $2,550/hr | 2 hours ($5,100) |
| Accident recovery (without rotator) | $1,900/hr | 3 hours |
| Load shift | $890/hr | 3 hours |
Towing rates are standard heavy-duty towing rates. Specialty recovery equipment, accident conditions, unusual loading or access requirements and additional towing preparation may require separate approved charges. The rotator rate applies when specialized rotator equipment is required, including major truck or trailer accidents, overturned trucks or trailers, deep-ditch recoveries, heavy lifting and complex recovery operations. Accident recovery without a rotator and load shift are separate service categories. When rotator equipment is necessary, the rotator rate governs that equipment. Overlapping equipment hours are not billed twice. Additional equipment, traffic control, specialized lifting, extra personnel, transportation and other necessary services are quoted and authorized separately; other distinct services or equipment are charged only when appropriate, disclosed and authorized.
15. Driveshaft disconnection and towing preparation
Standard driveshaft disconnection is $150 additional, charged only when required to prepare a truck for safe towing. It is not charged automatically on every tow. Whether driveshaft disconnection or axle-shaft removal is necessary depends on the truck, transmission, drivetrain and towing configuration, and some trucks can be towed without disconnecting the driveshaft. Axle-shaft removal, special equipment or complicated towing preparation may require a separate estimate. We tell you about towing-preparation charges before doing the work and obtain your approval before any work outside the agreed scope.
16. ETAs and parts availability
Arrival times are estimates and can change with traffic, weather, road conditions, distance and other calls. Repairs depend on parts availability; some parts must be ordered or sourced from a dealer, which can delay completion. We keep you informed of changes.
17. Fleet accounts and spending authorization
Fleet customers with an approved account are billed under their fleet agreement. We follow the spending limit or purchase-order rules in that agreement and request approval before exceeding them.
18. GPS location
If you tap “Use My GPS Location”, your device shares its location once, for this breakdown, so we can find the vehicle. The form does not track you continuously. If the vehicle moves, please give dispatch the updated location. You can type the location instead.
19. Customer communications and billing records
We use the contact details you provide to confirm your request, dispatch, give updates and send invoices. Text messages are sent only if you gave the separate SMS consent on the form. Your submission ID identifies your request in our records and on billing communications.
20. Invoice questions and your rights
Questions about an invoice? Call (855) 450-1212 or email admin@mtstruckservice.com with your submission ID. We review billing questions promptly and correct any error. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under applicable law.
